Engaging students in STEM curriculum

How do we engage students in STEM curriculum?

In the opening chapter of Steve Jobs' biography, he is quoted as saying that his elementary school "came close to really beating any curiosity" out of him.  He also admits to being “kind of bored for the first few years.”  According to ascd.org 49% of students are bored in class every day. Should we be worried about "beating out curiosity" out of the next Steve Jobs?

Our children are bored because they don't see the connection between the school curriculum and real life experiences. As a result natural curiosity that drives learning is replaced by mindless memorization. So how can we bring curiosity back and increase engagement in learning?

Watch this video to learn how Fondren World School brought the real world experience to their STEM Lab to enhance their curriculum and inspire curiosity.
